Polipo(http://www.pps.jussieu.fr/~jch/software/polipo/) is a acceleration web proxy.
It can be used on Mac, Linux, Windows and so on.
It is using technique like below
- Convert type of HTTP request from v1.0 to v1.1.
- Pipelining HTTP requests.
I measured acceleration effect of Polipo with "Load Time Analyzer" which is a plugin of firefox.
I test reloading some times with the plugin.
Sites I used were Mixi, Twitter, my diary and Google.
My result was bad. Polipo laten the response time.
Causes I assume are that
- My method was wrong ;-)
- My network was too fast.
- Polipo on Windows is bad compared with others on other platforms.
